Nullifire SC802 Intumescent Steel Paint Overview

Nullifire SC802 is a white, thin-film intumescent coating designed to protect internal structural steelwork. It provides up to 60 minutes of fire resistance and is ideal for use on structural steel in internal environments. This next-generation, water-based intumescent coating is compatible with a full range of Nullifire primers and top seals and has very low VOC content.

Applications & Uses

• Fire protection for internal structural steelwork

• Provides up to 60 minutes fire resistance

• Suitable for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings

• Can be overcoated with proprietary water-based gloss or emulsion paints where a colour finish is required

• Compatible with Nullifire primers, such as QD High Build Zinc Phosphate Primer

• External steels require an additional weather-protective topcoat

Preparation

• Apply to clean, dry, and primed steel surfaces

• Ensure surface is free from dust, grease, and other contaminants

• Follow the recommended primer system, such as QD High Build Zinc Phosphate Primer, for optimal adhesion and protection

Application

• Apply using a brush, roller, or spray equipment

• Determine the required loading based on the steel member’s Hp/A value, which reflects the steel’s ability to absorb heat

• For internal steel, no topcoat is required unless a coloured finish is desired

• For external steel, apply a suitable protective topcoat to ensure weather resistance

Drying & Curing

• Touch Dry: 1–3 hours

• Overcoating Time: 4 hours

• Full Fire Resistance: Confirmed through project-specific certification

Certification

• Project-specific certification can be issued, confirming:

  • Quantity of product supplied

  • Area treated (m²)

  • Fire protection level achieved

  • Applicator adherence to manufacturer specifications
