Jotun Penguard HB is a high build, two-pack pure epoxy coating designed for superior protection of steel, aluminium, bronze, GRP, and concrete. Its versatility allows it to be used as a primer, mid coat, finish coat, or as a single coat system, offering excellent resistance in both atmospheric and immersed environments. Ideal for structural steel, piping, offshore platforms, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings, and mining equipment, Jotun Penguard HB ensures long-lasting durability in highly corrosive conditions.

Preparation

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, rust, dust, and other contaminants

• For steel and iron: Remove loose rust and mill scale by abrasive blasting to Sa2.5, or alternatively, mechanically abrade to a clean bright surface

• For aluminium, bronze, and non-ferrous metals: Degrease and lightly abrade to promote adhesion

• For concrete and GRP: Ensure surfaces are fully cured, clean, and free from laitance or mould release agents; lightly abrade if required

• Mix the two components thoroughly according to manufacturer’s instructions before application

Application & Coverage

• Apply by brush, roller, or spray

• Coverage: 5.3 m² per litre

Drying & Overcoating

• Touch dry: 2.5 hours

• Overcoating time: 2 hours

• Pot life: 8 hours maximum

• Full cure: Dependent on temperature and coating thickness

Safety

• Use in well-ventilated areas

• Wear protective gloves, clothing, and eye protection

• Avoid inhalation of vapours and contact with skin or eyes

• Keep out of reach of children

• Clean tools with appropriate industrial cleaners
